It's a smokey day at Baptiste Lookout.

My current office ... A six-mile hike up a mountain.

The evening view from the old Mt. Brown fire lookout, in Glacier National Park.  Lots of smoke from the wildfires to the west, but it gave me a gorgeous landscape.

Drove over to Holland Lake after the lookout shift today. Just another typically boring Montana view ...

Volunteered to staff a Forest Service fire lookout up in the Swan Valley for a few days. This is my office!

Took the dog for a short noontime hike. I bet my lunch hour was better than yours!

Driving Montana.

Following the dog down the trail on the first hike of the year, just outside of Bozeman.

Treated myself to a pair of the new waterproof Bikilas for the holidays, and man ... they are GREAT in the snow. All kinds of grip. They definitely need to be worn with socks, though, both for warmth and to make the relatively stiff toe pockets more comfortable. And as an added bonus, the toe-prints in the snow really weird out other winter hikers. :-)
